The value of brushing your hair frequently cannot be underestimated. By brushing it frequently you help distribute the oils in your scalp, just as when you brush a dogs fur, it distributes their oils. So, by brushing frequently you help evenly distribute the oils, vitamins, and minerals throughout your hair, helping it stay healthy as a whole.

To determine whether you have cool or warm skin tones, check out the veins on the inside of your wrist. If you have cool skin, the veins will appear bluish in color. If you have warm skin, they will have a greenish tint instead. Cool skin tones look best in cool colors, such as blue and purple, whereas warm skin tones, look best in warm colors like red, yellow and orange.

To reduce red tones in your skin, use a green based concealer. Because green and red are opposite from each other on the color wheel, the green tones in the concealer will cancel out any red tones in your skin. However, keep in mind that you only need to use a very small amount of concealer to counteract the red. If you use too much you can wind up looking green instead.

Tone down a lipstick that is too bold or bright. A great way to make an overly pigmented shade easier on the eyes is to put some on the back of your hand, dab it with foundation, mix, and apply to lips. Your new shade should now be a better match for your tone.

Take a sponge from the kitchen, and use it on your skin when you are taking a bath. These sponges are just as effective, not to mention cheaper to buy in bulk.

If you wear your hair in a ponytail often, move the position of the ponytail around every so often to prevent hair breakage. Constant stress and friction in the same part of the hair shaft can weaken hair, but placing the elastic or rubber band in different positions prevents the same spots from being rubbed over and over.

Plain old toilet paper can be quite useful if you have a glow from doing your best moves dancing at the club! This rough paper is an excellent method of blotting oily and sweaty skin. Just swipe off a square and press firmly to the oily areas on your face and presto, instant gorgeous!

Cover up your roots. If you are in between trips to the hairdresser and your roots are showing cover them up with mascara. For lighter colored hair use a little extra hairspray and dust with a gold colored eyeshadow. This will cover up roots until you get your hair colored again.

For calming skin inflammation rose and lavender are excellent ways to calm these areas. It can either be a lotion or a cream and can be used on any area of the body. There are a variety of products available in an organic form and many that have not been tested on animals.

You’ve heard it’s important to exfoliate, but you don’t need to spend a lot of money on expensive loofah bath mitts or scrubs. Any drugstore, grocery store, or dollar store sells inexpensive kitchen sponge/scrubbers (where the rough side is green and the sponge side is yellow). These sponges work great for body exfoliation – but please don’t use the green side on your face.

If you are like many who have a problem keeping your eyeliner where it is supposed to be, try applying your eye shadow on top of the eyeliner with a damp cotton ball. It will help to set the liner and keep it in its place longer than it would otherwise.

Steer clear of using hair extensions to add volume and length to hair. These hair extensions are usually in textures and colors that will not blend properly with your hair and stick out like a sore thumb. Because the point of attachment is difficult to disguise, only use extensions when lengthening a ponytail or fattening, an up-do where it is not as noticeable and does not need to blend.

Eating the right diet will dramatically improve the health and appearance of your skin, nails and hair. Eat blueberries, as they are great at improving skin’s elasticity. Consume plenty of strawberries, as they help to protect skin’s collagen and reduce wrinkles. Avocados are great because they contain folate, which helps aid in cell regeneration. Last, but not least, eat plenty of acai berries. Acai berries contain twice as many anti-oxidants as any other berry.
